Samantha Grimm Hallenus
Her work can be viewed at the Poydras Home throughout the year, as well as in Louisiana Watercolor Society shows, gallery shows (i.e. the Space Gallery), and several other revues. She has participated in numerous community service art events including the WYES art auction, St. Louis Cathedral's Gala Auction hosted by Gayle Byrd of Huber House Gallery, and the Louisiana Children's Museum's Art Fest.
She produces a line of note cards (now upon request) based on her original paintings and has sold them to galleries and individuals in the area. Her body of work tends to be colorful and expressive and posters of her work can been viewed on amazon.com (available for purchase November 12). The use of color is a strong feature in her subject matter. Subject matter includes nature (landscapes/florals), pet portraits, and abstracts.
She did not receive a degree in art but did receive a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from the University New Orleans. She has attended classes or workshops most recently given by Paul Jackson, Joye Moon, H. C. Dodd, and Lou Jordan. She is currently teaching a class in Jefferson Parish for children - find out how you can join for the next session by contacting Daisey at 736-6999 ext. 110.
